Conference on the future of mills – Craft of the Miller

3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

In the workshop we want to share experiences of young millers (defined as teenagers to young adults) and what they get from working with mills. Also we want to talk about how mill communities organise their work and events to attract and retain young millers and their families. Last topic is the experiences how to attract young millwrights.

Program

We start with three 5-minute kickoffs on:

Interview with Mandie Noorlander, a young miller who can explain what she finds interesting on mills.
Video about the Mill model building club for youngsters on De Zaansche Schans.
Presentation about the financial support for mill wrights to attract youngsters.

Then we split up in groups to discuss how we can get more young people on our mills.
